Grand Master Park and his staff are top notch. The school provides some of the best staff around who build confidence in their/our kids, teach the students the meaning of respect through structured training. Our daughter trained at Parks Tae Kwon Do for years and that great experience will support her endeavors. Thanks Grand Master Park and staff!

Like many people who start with TKD at a young age, I took a "break" after getting my black belt. A 20 year break. This year, I rekindled my love for this sport when I enrolled at Parks. This time around, I am practicing with my son. Grand Master Parks is right - it is kind of like riding a bike. What is even better than getting back into shape is that I get to share an activity with my son that I have loved since I was his age. Gabe is so excited for TKD and the disciplinary benefits are starting to sink in. Thank you for giving me the chance to share this with my son the way I used to share it with my own father.

We started with Parks 23 years ago with our son. It's was great then & even greater now. The Parks family are warm, caring & we know that are 8 year old daughter will thrive. Since she has been there, her self-confidence has risen. After she being bullied in school, & Parks knowledge of this, we know she will stand strong with confidence thank to Grandmaster Park & his instructors

We moved from Wisconsin to Boca about a year and half ago. My son Mikaeel was already doing Taekwondo in Wisconsin. He was able to continue at Park's from same belt rank. After a few months at Park's, he also decided to join the Elite team. Today it was my honor and privilege to see my 7 year old son getting his Sr Red Belt. This weekend was a great experience for us, and a very well organized event for Black Belt testing hosted by Grandmaster Park and his instructors. Best part was the belt ceremony, where Grandmaster honored Moms and had them give the certificates and belts to the kids.

Mikaeel's hard work, dedication, perseverance is a true testament of his instructors and masters. Looking forward to many more testings to come as he continues on his journey of becoming a Black Belt.

My mom signed my son up for classes mid September. It started as an investment to help build my son's confidence and disicpline. Besides the ethics side he loved it! He even more enjoyed having an uniform becoming a member. It has been a challenging experience but Parks is a phenominal individual and has made the experience much smoother for him and myself. It was very new for me as well. It's going on 8 months and he is now in red uniform and wears a yellow belt. He has equipment and weapons they utilize and learn in class. This step I can tell is a huge challenge for him. Remembering moves and steps, I am very excited to see him transition. We are from California so this experience is super awesome knowing back home we are limited to these type of sports and activities. I'm proud to be apart of the Park' s Taekwondo Family

Parks Taekwondo has only been a positive experience for my son. He has always been a good kid, but they have taught him not only self defense.... but self-confidence, respect and he's more outgoing. The instructors and masters are excellent! I love this place and highly recommend it.

My daughter Anika van Rooyen started with Parks in her kindergarten year as a very very shy girl that barely said anything. She enjoyed it so much and came out of her shell so much that she decided to work toward her black belt, and received her 1st degree black belt this past December 2016. She is also a Life member because her next goal is to be an instructor too. The instructors and Masters are amazing and motivate the kids constantly. I definately recommend Parks Taekwando.

Our friends referred us to this program and my kids love it! We had signed up for other martial arts programs in the area but this is the best by far. My 6 year old is doing a lot better with his focus and very attentive. My 9 year old absolutely loves it. It brings out the competitive spirit in him. We also love the Day camp and aftercare program! They pick them right after school at 2pm. So convenient for busy working moms and dads.

5 Reasons Why I Keep Practicing Taekwondo

Taekwondo is popular with young adults and children, but I’d like to take the time to talk to the adults. A lot of you are looking at taekwondo as a good activity for your children, but seem to rule it out for yourselves. I can understand why, with work and family obligations, you might feel that you just don’t have the time to spare. I’ve spoken at length about the benefits for the 40+ set, and how being fit helps as you age, but my personal reasons for practicing are as follows.

  • Mindfulness is often thought of as awareness, but it is more than that. You are not just observing your own body and mental state, but acknowledging your emotions, the sensations your body feels, and your own state of mind. We too often live lives where we do not examine ourselves, only feel and go with the moment, Being mindful of yourself is the first step to understanding yourself.
  • When you are practicing taekwondo, you focus intently on the way your body moves, on the correct and controlled way to accomplish hyeong or pumsae.
  • Because even black belts and Grand Masters can mess up. Sometimes with epic and YouTube worthy results. Humility is important, and so is the empathy that comes with it. The ability to understand where and when you stepped in it helps you avoid the same situation next time, and helps you to empathize and teach others that they can get back up again, too.
  • Friendship and sportsmanship are important not just in team sports, but among individuals as well. You become friends in the true, dep, and lasting sense of the word through shared experienced.
  • Being the change I want to see. Role models are important at every stage of life. They are important to children and young people doing the critical work of growing into adults, but adults need role models, too. So many tell themselves that they are “too old” for this and that they can’t do that. That they’d embarrass themselves or their kids if they tried taekwondo, or that they are too out of shape. I want to be a role model for adults, too, so that they feel this isn’t just “kid stuff” but a way of life for them, too.

You don’t have to practice taekwondo, or any martial art. You can practice yoga, Pilates, tai chi, or any sport, the main thing that matters is that it contributes to your wellbeing and growth as a person. When you make changes to your life, those changes are most likely to take root if you are happy with them or enjoy the results, and learning something new should be enjoyable. The need to grow and learn does not stop with the diploma, or the corner office, or the retirement party. We should all grow and learn throughout our lives, and live the values that we want to see in the world.
